The other outside rail is\u003cbr\u003eelectrically isolated, or “dead.” If you connect an accessory to the isolated outside rail and the\u003cbr\u003epowered center rail (using the wires that are already attached to the track), you can turn on\u003cbr\u003eyour accessories with your rolling stock by completing an electrical circuit through the wheels\u003cbr\u003eand axles. The two rails are “bridged” through the axles, powering the isolated rail.
